BATMAN 694

This is the pencil version of what's been floated on the internet.     With the hectic holiday schedule behind me, things are looking pretty smooth.  694 hits on Wednesday the 16th and I'm right about to start drawing issue 696.  Putting books out in November and December each year is a tough task.  The holiday schedule tightens everyones deadlines so I'm glad that's over with.   When I used to self publish I would avoid putting books out all together in December.
I'm gearing up for 2010 now and I already have some ideas on where I want to change up on things.  I'm thinking of switching to my own paper and seeing how I like it. As for writing - the more I do it, the more comfortable I get so I'm looking to get real comfortable in '10.

When it rains it pours

Very busy week ahead of me.  Just recovering from a nasty cold.

Anyway -  Ian is wrapping up the colors on Batman 694 and is doing a brilliant job.  Sandu is waiting on a package of new pages from me from 695 that he'll get tomorrow.

Wrapping up another one

Batman 694 is being wrapped up.   695 is half done, but I wish I was a little further along.  Lots of people are speculating on people like Penguin,  Riddler,  Helena...that's good.  Will everything be answered right away? Heck no.  Am I going to have fun with these developments? Heck yeah!

Preview tease for Batman 695

Just a piece of a much larger image from BATMAN 695.  Each issue I'm tinkering a bit with my rendering.  My work is always 'in progress'...the trick is staying consistent so it's not noticeable except (hopefully) looking a little cooler.  Thanks for all the great feedback regarding last week's Batman.  It may take another issue before all hell breaks loose in Dick's world.

Life After Death

So the book's out as of last Wednesday and the next issue comes out in less than two weeks. DC is cracking the whip on me to make sure I get these books out on their ship dates. Well, not whip-cracking, but perhaps a nudge or two.

ME - Hey Mike, the book is due on Monday. Can I buy some time?

Mike Marts (Batman editor) - sure - how's Monday night?

ME - .....you got it!

The first part of this arc had a lot of set up but I also managed to throw a little action in as well. Next issue we'll find out a little more about Reaper, the Falcones and what Kitrina is up to. Things will become clearer as each issue unfolds a new layer so stay tuned for more. I'm starting the art on 695 today so I've been able to keep pace (which help from the aforementioned whip-cracking). Let me know your thoughts. I can't spoil anything so excuse me if I seem evasive occasionally. ;)
